Tai chi and qigong are complementary traditional Chinese arts that help to improve one’s health, vitality, and wellbeing. Tai chi is a series of gentle flowing movements based on martial arts. Qigong is a mind/body exercise that helps stimulate “elemental life force.”
YANG STYLE TAI CHI & BA DUAN JIN QIGONG
Tuesday classes at CCAC focus on learning the basic movements of traditional Yang tai chi through relatively simple and accessible short forms including the 8 step, 10 step, and 8 methods/5 steps.
This fall term we will learn the Yang 8 step. We will also begin to learn a simple qigong form called ba duan jin. Both can be performed standing or seated. In addition we will explore some of the philosophy and basic principles behind these arts.
